Celebrated author set to launch new “cozy mystery” series featuring greyhounds
In the idyllic town of Richmond, Indiana, a world of mystery and intrigue is about to unfold. Esteemed local author, Dr. Randall Wisehart, is ready to introduce readers to a captivating new “cozy mystery” series, making its debut at the town’s popular Oktoberfest event at Two Sisters Books and More.
Following the successful release of his first book, A Greyt Greyhound Rescue: A Rachel Chance and Will Keller Mystery in April, Dr. Wisehart has just unveiled the second installment in the series, A Greyt Deception: A Rachel Chance and Will Keller Mystery. Both books promise an engaging blend of suspense, heartwarming moments, and endearing greyhounds.
Dr. Wisehart, a former director of graduate programs in education at Earlham College, has been nurturing his passion for writing since his retirement. “I’ve always been an avid reader,” shared Wisehart. “Sherlock Holmes mysteries were a particular favorite when I was a child, and that fascination with mystery never left me. When I retired from my music career, writing became my creative outlet. The idea of crafting my own mystery was incredibly appealing.”
The series introduces readers to Rachel Chance and Will Keller, two amateur sleuths with a knack for solving mysteries. Their journey begins when they uncover a murder mystery in their local area. As they delve deeper into the case, they find themselves entangled in a web of secrets and deceit that promises to keep readers engrossed.
Dr. Wisehart spent nearly a decade developing the character of Rachel Chance. In January 2022, he decided to bring his vision to life, drafting a manuscript within a few months and working closely with an editor to refine his creation. “That’s how I approach all my books,” he shared. “I spend significant time contemplating and researching, but once I’m ready, I can produce 200-300 pages in just a couple of months and then revise.”
The series is set in the fictional town of Glen Falls, a charming location in east central Indiana. Dr. Wisehart’s masterful storytelling promises to transport readers on an adventure filled with suspense, warmth, and a love for history, greyhounds, and mysteries.
This Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dr. Wisehart will engage with his readers at Two Sisters Books and More. He will host a book signing and a Q&A session. At 1 p.m., he will share insights about the local connections to Richmond and east central Indiana that are woven into his novels.
Dr. Wisehart is also the author of two historical fiction novels aimed at middle-grade students, Luke’s Summer Secret and A Winding Road to Freedom. His third historical fiction novel, Families of Two Fires, set in Whitewater Valley during the late 1700s and early 1800s, is being published by the Indiana Historical Society and is set for release later this fall.
A Greyt Greyhound Rescue: A Rachel Chance and Will Keller Mystery is now available in print and digital formats at major book retailers such as BookLocker, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart.com, among others.
